Beulah I. Zimmerman (May 29, 2013)

Beulah I. Zimmerman age 104, of Greenville, Ohio passed away at 6:05 A.M. on Wednesday, May 29, 2013 at her residence. Beulah was born August 5, 1908 in Auglaize County, Ohio to the late Samuel & Nellie (Seigel) Morris.

Beulah is survived by her daughter, Maxine Hangen of Greenville; granddaughters, Sandra (Mike) Ashby of Greenville and Sue (David) Barnette of Greenville; and many loving great and great-great grandchildren whom she adored getting hugs and kisses from.

In addition to her parents, Beulah is also preceded in death by her husband, Charles Zimmerman; step son, Morris Zimmerman; step daughter, Helen Miller; and eleven siblings.

Beulah was a homemaker. Beulah was a member of the Evangelical United Methodist Church in Greenville, being the oldest attending member. She worshiped faithfully up to the time of her illness. Beulah was awarded as the oldest person attending the Darke County Fair for the past two years. Beulah was one of the oldest citizens to vote in Darke County this past election.

A funeral service will be held at 11:00 A.M. on Saturday, June 1, 2013 at EUM Worship Center 1451 Sater Street Greenville with Pastor Jeff Harper and Pastor Sylvia McKibben officiating. Burial will follow in Oak Grove Cemetery in Ft. Jefferson. The family will receive friends on Friday from 5:00 to 7:00 P.M. and Saturday morning from 10:00 to 11:00 A.M. at EUM Worship Center. John “Jack” Reyer Holmes (May 26, 2013)

John “Jack” Reyer Holmes, 80, of Cape Coral, formerly of Greenville, OH, passed away Sunday, May 26, 2013 at his home. He was born January 3, 1933 in Auburn, NY to the late Leslie and Doris Holmes.

Jack was of the Christian faith. He also enjoyed being a member of the American Legion. He is a Korean war veteran having served in the United States Marine Corps , where he learned the trade of meat cutting. In his life he worked for several grocery companies practicing his trade and was also a Meat Director for Superfoods Inc. (Bellefontaine, OH). He and his wife owned and operated Northside Meats and Delicatessen in Greenville, OH prior to relocating to Cape Coral, Florida in 1988. At the time of his death he was working for Publix Supermarket in Cape Coral, FL where he had been a meat cutter for 13 years.

Jack will be remembered by all as a very giving and loving man. He was known to donate generously to the food banks throughout the years. He always wanted for everyone to have everything they could need, and could not stand the thought of anyone being without. Jack was very proud of his family and had often stated that he was put on Earth to take care of his wife and children. He was an extraordinary husband, father, and grandfather.

Jack is survived by his beloved wife of 54 years, Frances L. Holmes of Cape Coral, FL; two children, Marti Stull and her husband Doug of Cape Coral; stepson Dan Howard and his wife Beverly of Middletown, OH; one sister, Kay Pesek of Auburn, NY; ten grandchildren, Julie Stull, Jaime (Stull) Olivo, Jennifer (Stull) Deniston, Cindy (Howard) Banks, Chris Howard, Andrea (Howard) Hendrix, Josh Wright , Tom Howard ,Cherie D’Varga, and Bart Howard; eleven great grandchildren; one great great grandchild as well as numerous nieces and nephews.

Jack was preceded in death by his two brothers, Victor and Robert Holmes and his stepson, Tom Howard.

A Memorial Service will be held 2:30pm on Saturday, June 1, 2013 at First Assembly West, 121 Del Prado Blvd., Cape Coral, with Pastor Corey Baker officiating.

Mr. James C. Condon, age 79, of Versailles, Ohio passed away on May 30, 2013 at 1:27 a.m. at Miami Valley Hospital. He was born April 8, 1934 in Dayton, Ohio, to the late Russell E. and Clara (Stocker) Condon. He was raised in West Milton, Ohio and moved to Versailles, Ohio in 1945. Upon graduation from Parker Vocational HS in Dayton, Ohio in 1952, he worked at the Frigidaire Division of GM and joined the Ohio Air National Guard.

He joined the United States Air Force in October 1954 and entered the Aviation Cadet Program at Ellington AFB in Houston, Texas. Upon graduation in December 1955, he was commissioned a Second Lieutenant and received his Navigator/Bombadier Wings. During his career, he flew B-47 and B-52 bombers amassing 6,000 flying hours. He flew 126 combat missions during the Vietnam War. He was shot down over Hanoi, North Vietnam on December 28, 1972, was captured and spent 91 days as a POW. From 1973 to 1978 he attended Air War College in Alabama and served on the staff of 15th Air Force in California. After his retirement in 1978, he and his family moved to Versailles. During his combined 26 years of service he received many awards including the Distinguished Flying Cross, Bronze Star, Purple Heart, POW Medal and the Air Medal w/5 Oak Leaf Clusters.

He along with his wife owned and operated The House of Flowers in Versailles, Ohio, for 19 years. During this time he was very active in the community. He served a term on Village Council, was on the Board of the Versailles Development Association, was on the Poultry Days Committee serving as Chairman in 1983 and was one of the founders and served on the Board of Heritage Park. He was a member of St. Denis Catholic Church, a member of the Versailles Lions Club, the Versailles Area Historical Society, a Golden Eagle Member of the Versailles Fraternal Order of Eagles Aerie 2347, the Versailles Planning Commission and Zoning Board of Appeals, a member of the Darke County Disabled American Veterans and a life member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars.

He was preceded in death by his parents, stepmother Rita Condon, sister Maria and grandson Nathan Condon.

He is survived by his wife of 54 years, Jenny (Siefring) Condon; children and spouses, Brian and Barb Condon, Krista and Charlie Krueger, Mary Beth and Dave Berger and Kelly and Brian Trump, all of Versailles, Ohio; eighteen grandchildren and six great grandchildren. Brothers and sister, Fred and Roberta Condon, Dick and Angie Condon, Bob and Becky Condon and Marcia and Chuck Meiring, as well as numerous nieces and nephews.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 A.M. on Monday, June 3, 2013 at St. Denis Catholic Church in Versailles with Rev. Fr. David Vincent celebrant. Burial will follow in St. Valbert Cemetery in Versailles with Military graveside services conducted by the Versailles Veteran’s Honor Guard. The family will receive friends on Sunday from 2:00 to 7:00 P.M. and Monday morning from 9:00 to 10:00 A.M. at Bailey Zechar Funeral Home in Versailles. Eleanor L. “Ellie” Stocksdale Wilson age 79, of Greenville, Ohio passed away at 10:45 P.M. on Friday, May 31, 2013 at Miami Valley Hospital in Dayton. Ellie was born September 25, 1933 in Darke County, Ohio to the late Glen W. & Ethel (Barnhart) Stocksdale.

Ellie is survived by her companion of over 55 years, James H. Wilson of Greenville; son, Dennis J. Wilson of Greenville; daughter, Lynne A. Wilson of Greenville; grandchildren, Michael & Heather Wilson of St. Marys and Kristy Wilson of Dayton; great-grandchildren, Preston, Parker and Peyton Wilson; brothers & sisters-in-law, Donald L. & Pat Stocksdale of Union City, Indiana, Eugene H. & Jo Anne Stocksdale of Greenville, Vaughn F. & Diane Stocksdale of Columbus and Jesse E. & Connie Stocksdale of Union City, Ohio; and numerous nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents, Ellie is also preceded in death by a son, Michael L. Wilson.

Ellie was the secretary of the Ohio State Tractor Pullers Association and bookkeeper for her family business, Wilson Brothers Livestock and Peoples Exchange in Greenville. Ellie was a former member of Pleasant Valley Church of the Brethren. She loved flowers, gardening, crafts and spending time with her family.

A funeral service will be held at 10:30 A.M. on Wednesday, June 5, 2013 at Zechar Bailey Funeral Home with Rev. Terry Haworth officiating. Burial will follow in Greenville Cemetery. John R. “Jack” Ryan age 84, of Greenville, Ohio passed away at 8:30 A.M. on Sunday, June 2, 2013 at Rest Haven Nursing Home in Greenville. John was born April 28, 1929 in Union City, Indiana to the late John & Ethel (Lawlor) Ryan.

John is survived by his wife, Darlene (Gribler) Ryan whom he married April 4, 1985; son, Patrick Ryan of Florida; daughter, Kimberlee Autry of Florida; step children, Rodney & Cheryl Jay of Greenville, Victoria & Robert Warner of Greenville, Lynda & Sam Ogle of Kokomo, Indiana, Tamy & Ray Forbey of Troy and Ted Jay of Greenville; 14 grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren; brother, Robert Ryan of Texas; sister, Mary Jean Sharp of Indianapolis, Indiana; and numerous nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, John is also preceded in death by a son, Sean Ryan; brother, Jerald Ryan; and a sister, Helen Curtner.

John is retired from auto sales. John served in the U.S. Marine Corps. during the Korean Conflict. He was a member of the Greenville American Legion and the V.F.W. in Union City, Indiana.

A funeral service will be held at 10:30 A.M. on Friday, June 7, 2013 at Zechar Bailey Funeral Home in Greenville with Rev. Fr. John White officiating. Eldon Leon Miller age 77, of The Villages, Florida and formerly of Gettysburg, Ohio passed away at 4:35 P.M. on Friday, May 31, 2013 at Cornerstone Hospice in The Villages, Florida. Eldon was born June 7, 1935 in Gettysburg, Ohio to the late Millard & Miriam (Sanderson) Miller.

Eldon is survived by his wife, Mary Lou (Ferrey) Miller whom he married January 20, 2005; a brother & sister-in-law, Merlin & Maxine Miller of Bradford, Ohio; a sister & brother-in-law, Janice & Omer Holsapple of Bradford, Ohio; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Eldon received his BS Degree at Manchester College, MA Degree at Miami University and PHD at New Mexico State. Eldon taught and coached at Gettysburg, Westmont and Greenville Schools. Eldon was the Dean of Students at Mountain View College in Dallas, Texas and Professor in the PHD Program at the University of Colorado in Boulder, Colorado and was instrumental in helping with the setup of Community Colleges on Indian Reservations. Eldon was involved in the American Council on Education and Council on Indian Affairs in Washington D.C. Eldon retired in 2000 as President of West Virginia University in Parkersburg, West Virginia with 18 years of service.

A funeral service will be held at 2:00 P.M. on Friday, June 7, 2013 at Zechar Bailey Funeral Home in Greenville with Pastor John Sgro and Pastor Bob Bitner officiating. Carl E. White, 58, of Fort Wayne, IN went to be with his Lord on June 1, 2013 after a hard fought battle with cancer. Formerly of Greenville, OH Carl was born Oct. 21, 1954. He graduated from Tri-Village High School in 1973 and attended Fort Wayne, Bible College.

Carl married Anita Hicks on June 29, 1974; they were married for nearly 39 years.

Carl worked for 20 years as a Branch Manager/Senior Lease Sales Representative in the Fort Wayne market for Palmer Leasing Group. He was the only leasing employee at the Fort Wayne location and was instrumental in their growth which now includes two facility locations, 158 trucks on lease and 17 employees. Carl has received the President’s Award Circle designation several times and under his guidance, the Fort Wayne location was awarded the PacLease Franchise of the Year for North America.

Carl enjoyed Major League Baseball, especially the Cincinnati Reds. He was actively involved at Avalon Missionary Church where he enjoyed leading worship for a number of years as well as teaching adult Sunday School classes. He gave leadership to the Upward Sports ministry and was involved in Bible quizzing.

Carl will be deeply missed by his loving family and many friends. He is survived by his wife, Anita; his children, Joshua (Carolyn) of Silver City, NM; Aaron (Kara) of Wrightstown, NJ; Sarah White and Ruth White both of Fort Wayne; his grandchildren, Elijah and Ryanne of NM and Adeline and Ethan of NJ. He is also survived by his father H. Dean White of Greenville, OH; a brother, Dean (Ann) White of Greenville, OH; sisters, Debi (Dan) Pugh of Butler, IN and Carol (Rod) Paul of Greenville, OH; a sister-in-law, Alaine White Dunn also of Greenville, OH. He is survived as well by his father and mother-in-law, Keith and Arlene Hicks of New Paris, OH along with extended family members and friends.

Carl was preceded in death by his mother, Darlene White and his brother, Greg White.

The funeral service will be held at Avalon Missionary Church in Fort Wayne, IN with Keith Koteskey officiating, on Thursday, June 6 at 10:30 AM, with visitation one hour prior. Visitation will also be at Avalon on Wednesday, June 5 from 2-4 PM and 5-8 PM.

Mary Jane Brandon, 84, of Greenville,Ohio passed away Monday afternoon,June 3, 2013 at her residence.

She was born June 6, 1928 in Greenville, OH daughter of the late Thomas R. Sr. and Ruby E. (Shumaker) Hunt. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, Robert Anthony Brandon in February 27, 2001; sisters, Joan Boyd, Martha L. Hunt, Mary Jane Hunt ; brothers, Henry, Eugene, James, and Thomas Hunt,Jr.

Jane was a loving mother and grandmother and an avid bowler. A member of St. Mary's Catholic Church and the St. Mary's Rosary Altar Society.

She is survived by her children, Robert (Kathy) Brandon, Michael (Wanda) Brandon, Beckie (Dick) Shumaker, Kitty (Frank) Mogle all of Greenville, Marty (Jim) Beaver of Marion, OH; grandchildren, Travis (Jeff) Jarvis,Sean (April) Shumaker, Jody (Toby) Henderson, Tiffany (Bill) Slade, Jennifer Weyant, Ashley Mogle, Nichole Brandon, Sara Brandon, Molly Levings, Emily Beaver, Brandon (Jena) Beaver; great grandchildren, Joshua and Jenna Javis, Dylan and Ethan Shumaker, Addison, Avery and Ansley Henderson, Blake Weyant, Logan Levings, Mackenzie and Alexis Slade; brother, David (Pat) Hunt; and numerous nieces and nephews.

She was a homemaker and she also worked in the office for Goodyear, Greenville; Holthouse Furniture; & Lehman Paint Store. She was a member of Greenville Missionary Church.

She is preceded in death by her parents; Brothers: Marvin Pretsman, and 1 brother in infancy.

She is survived by her husband: Gale “Clarkie” Clark of Greenville whom she married April 25, 1954; her children & spouses: Amy & Chris Rudy of Greenville, Tammy & Scott Drew of Greenville, & Mark B. & Charise Clark of Redford, Michigan; grandchildren: Christine Rudy, Clark Rudy, Kalista King, Simeon King, Caden Clark, & Luke Clark; sister & brother in law: Linda & Sam Force of Gettysburg.

Ethel Leola (Brown) Crowell, 91 of Greenville, Ohio, passed away on Friday June 7, 2013 at 6:00 AM at Wayne Healthcare. She was born January 13, 1922 in Lewisburg, Ohio, the daughter of the late Harold A. & Grace E. (Hunt) Brown. She worked for Corning for 18 years in Quality Control Inspection retiring in 1973. She was a member of Cedar Grove Church of the Brethren; Towne Square Quilt Club; Patchwork Quilt Club; she loved playing euchre and cards; she taught quilting classes and was a pattern and tool designer for quilting.

She is preceded in death by her parents; sons: Larry Crowell, & Leroy Crowell; daughters: Loretta Crowell, & Leona Crowell.

She is survived by her children & spouses: Lee & Bonnie Crowell of Greenville, Raine & Terry Longfellow of Greenville, Lew & Mary Crowell of Powell, Ohio, Leslie & Gerri Crowell of Greenville, Lyle & Karon Crowell of Versailles, Linda McGlothin of Greenville, Lynn & Jill Crowell of Polaris, MT, Lavena & Patrick Marker of Greenville; 16 grandchildren; 18 great grandchildren; 3 great great grandchildren; 19 step grandchildren; brother & sister in law: Emerson “Bud” & Lucy Brown of Bellefontaine, Ohio.

Walter Biddlestone, 84, of Greenville, Ohio, passed away Thursday evening, June 6, 2013, at his home.

He was born January 5, 1929 in Uhrichsville, Ohio, a son of the late George and Mary (Fouts) Biddlestone. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his son, David Biddlestone, 1 sister and 3 brothers.

He is survived by his wife, Marjorie (Abbuhl) Biddlestone; 3 children, Darrell (Debra) Biddlestone, of Greenville, Ohio, Bruce (Linda) Biddlestone of Vandalia, OH, Cheryl Stinson of Greenville, Ohio; 7 grandchildren and 13 great grandchildren.

Graveside services will be held 11am, Tuesday, June 11, 2013 at Union Cemetery in Uhrichville, Ohio with Bruce Biddlestone officiating.

Richard A. Subler age 80, of North Star, Ohio passed away at 4:28 A.M. on Monday, June 10, 2013 at The Gardens at Celina. Richard was born January 30, 1933 in North Star, Ohio to the late Alfred H. & Opal C. (Henry) Subler.

Richard is survived by a brother & sister-in-law, Bruce & Darla Subler of North Star; sisters & brother-in-law, Dianne Hemmelgarn of North Star, Suzanne Budde of Maria Stein and Elaine & Vernon McEldowney of Centerville; brother-in-law, Jack Feverston of Centerville; and numerous nieces, nephews and many friends.

In addition to his parents, Richard is also preceded in death by a sister, Barbara Feverston; brothers-in-law, Ed Hemmelgarn, Al Hemmelgarn and Walter Budde; and a sister-in-law, Rita (McEldowney) Subler.

Richard served in the U.S. Army during the Korean Conflict. Richard retired from New Idea in Coldwater with 48 years of service. Richard was a member of St. Louis Catholic Church in North Star; Holy Name Society of the church and the North Star American Legion. Richard was an avid NASCAR fan and went many years to Daytona and loved going to Eldora Speedway.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 A.M. on Friday, June 14, 2013 at St. Louis Catholic Church in North Star with Rev. Fr. David Zink celebrant. Burial will follow in St. Louis Cemetery in North Star with Military graveside services conducted by the North Star American Legion. The family will receive friends on Thursday from 4:00 to 8:00 P.M. at Bailey Zechar Funeral Home in Versailles and Friday morning from 9:00 to 10:00 A.M. at the church. James Edward Hiegel, age 83 of Montezuma, Ohio and formerly of Ansonia, Ohio passed away Sunday June 9, 2013.

Jim served 3 years in the Army in the Korean War as a paratrooper. He retired from the Ohio Highway Patrol and also from the Union City Body Company.

He is preceded in death by his mom and dad, Homer and Margaret (Bailey) Hiegel, his sister Marjorie Dynes, his brother Ward Hiegel and his granddaughter Marilyn Harless.

Jim is survived by 4 daughters: Sandra (Edward) Schott, Marjorie (Mark) Neeley, Rhonda Werner and Shelly (Rex) Fields, 1 son Randy Enicks and 3 brothers Walt, Keith and Tom Hiegel. He also enjoyed his 12 grandchildren and his 12 great grandchildren.

Funeral Services will be held at 1:00 P.M. Wednesday June 12, 2013 in the Zechar Bailey Funeral Home Greenville, Ohio with Pastor Nick Cordray officiating. Burial will follow in the Greenville Township Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends on Wednesday from 11:00 A.M. until time of the services in the funeral home.

Full Military Honors will be conducted by the Greenville Veterans Honor Guard.

He was born November 30, 1950 in Greenville, Ohio, a son of Lewis “Jr.” and Betty (Elson) Hittle.

Jerry was preceded in death by his father, Lewis “Jr.” Hittle; sisters, Bonnie and Brenda Hittle, and Linda Gheen; 1 brother, Mike Hittle and a half brother Ron Hines.

He was a machinist and fabricator who retired from Whirlpool after 33 years of service. Jerry enjoyed the outdoors, hunting, woodworking, NASCAR and Eldora Speedway.

He is survived by his wife of 29 years, Deborah (Fisher) Hittle, his mother Betty (Elson) Hittle; 3 children, Sheryl (Rick) Byron of Piqua, Ohio, Jason (Alli) Hittle of Rossburg, Ohio and Allison (Jonathan) Butler of Union City, IN; grandchildren, Coltin and Kaitlyn Byron, Kylie, Kelsey and Kaleb Hittle and Little Baby Butler on the way; sisters, Barb (Rick) Emans of Mendon, Ohio, Diane Hittle of Celina, Ohio, Sherry (Todd) Decker of Celina and a brother, Bob (Pat) Hittle of New Weston, Ohio.

Services will be held at 10:30am Friday, June 14, 2013 at the Oliver Floyd Funeral Home in Greenville with Pastor Eric Swenson officiating. Burial will follow in Ansonia Cemetery.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home Thursday from 5 – 7 P.M..

Verle Duane Sullenbarger, 79, of New Paris, went to be with the lord on Monday, June 10,2013 at his residence. Verle was born August 25, 1933 in Darke County, Ohio to the late Vernon and Nellie"Louise"(Marshall)Sullenbarger.

Verle graduated from New Madison High School. After high school, Verle served our greatful country in the United States Army. He then retired from the Dana Corporation where he worked in the foundry. In his spare time he loved to fish and hunt. For many years, Verle, along with his two brothers were bee keepers and packaged and sold honey. Verle especially loved going to watch his great grandchildren play baseball.

Along with his parents, Verle is preceded in death by a grandson, Dustin Brickler; brother Marshall"Bill"Sullenbarger; sister, Doris Jane Moore.

Left behind to cherish his memory are, a son and daughter in law, Verle and Amy Sullenbarger of New Madison; three daughters and sons in law, Connie Eley of Greenville, Bev and Edward Nestor of Union City, OH, and Carol and Clint Wyatt of Hollansburg; ten grandchildren, David and Anne Eley, Amanda and Adam Shepherd, Eric and Sarah Eley, Crysta and Carl Foster, Tammy and Mike Richards, Jessica and Daniel Royer, Amber and Guero Escobar, Cathryn Lemon, Jr. Lemon, Kelsey Brickler and Fiance' Michael Lipps; twenty-one great grandchildren, Joe, Matt and Ryan Eley, Jenna and Lacie Shepherd, Aubrey and Brooklyn Eley, Abbegail and Trenten Hissong, Ethan Foster, Tabitha, Madyson, and Corbin Richards, Lawrence, Ella and Sophia Royer, Alanna and Adrienne Escobar, Amara Lemon and Kaylee and Carson Lipps; two brothers and sister in law, Darrel Sullenbarger of New Paris and Dale and Altha Sullenbarger of New Paris; four sisters and brothers in law, Donna and Dave McAllister of Richmond, Darlene and Bob Comer of New Madison, Deloris and Norman Scholl of Richmond and Mary and Mike Wise of Franklin; sister in law, Linda Sullenbarger of New Paris; brother in law, Dave Moore of New Paris.

A celebration of Verle's life will be held for close friends and family at 11:00 am, Thursday, June, 13,2013 at the Braund Pope Funeral Home with Pastor Tony Price officiating. Family will greet close friends and family starting at 10:00 am until the time of service. Burial will follow in Greenmound Cemetery when there will also be military services by the Darke County Veterans Honor Guard. Richard Leo “Rick” Liette, Born November 23, 1954 and passed away on June 5, 2013. Richard passed away at his residence on the eve of June 5th. He was born “Ricky Leo Saintignon” to Melvin and Shirley (Fritz) Saintignon. After an accident claimed their lives, he was adopted by George and Delores “Lois” (Wourms) Liette who also preceded him in death.

Richard is survived by two brothers, Randall and Todd Liette; daughters, Aimee (Jesse) Eddy-Karns and Emily (Cory Simon) Liette; sons, Cary (Taris Harlow) Duncan and Adam (Amber Hart) Duncan; grandchildren, Austen Eddy, Taylor Eddy, Aric Schneider, Helena Kissinger, Zade Simon, Pierce Simon, Gideon Duncan and Audrey Duncan; in addition to his immediate family he is survived by numerous aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins.

A private viewing was held for the family. Arrangements are under the direction of Zechar Bailey Funeral Home, Greenville.

Alice M. (Heiser) Niswonger of Pompano Beach FL., formerly of Greenville and Huber Heights, Ohio, passed away at Holy Cross Hospital on June 4, 2013 at the age of 83.

She was born on January 19, 1930 in Darke County, Ohio a daughter of the late Joseph and Ethel (Trissel) Heiser. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, Robert E. Niswonger; son, Billy Joe Hollinger; brothers, Russell Glen Heiser, Lawrence Grant Heiser , Robert Heiser; sisters, Emmeline Holdeman, Martha Boise, and Margaret (Kate) Sargent.

Alice worked in retail grocery stores all her life until retirement. She graduated from Ansonia High School, Class of 1948. She loved her family, the beach, books, and loved to shop and eat out. She loved dogs, especially a black lab, Izzi.

Alice is survived by her loving daughter, Kay A. (Hollinger) Mote of Pompano Beach, FL. They have lived together in a condo on the beach for 12 wonderful years. Survived also by special nieces and nephews; Jim and Irma Heiser, carol and Terry Haworth, Barb and Gary Conrad; many other nieces and nephews and a special friend, Patrick Brown.

William Owen, Sr., 89, of Greenville, OH, passed away Tuesday evening, June 11, 2013, at the Miami Valley Hospital in Dayton, OH.

He was born in Camden, Arkansas, son of the late Henry and Pertha (Stephens) Owen. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by 2 sons, Tony Owens and James Owens.

Bill had had an interesting life from playing on barnstorming baseball teams, which he was known as "#22", to attending Martin Luther King's funeral and walking next to Bobby Kennedy, to working for President Harry S. Truman for 3 years.

He had spent most of his time locally working for Ripp Family Farm near Union City and Wayne Detling Farm's in the Ansonia area. He was a member of the General Grand Masonic Congress 32nd Degree in Gary, IN, and 50 years in the Ancient Accepted Scottish Rite of A.F. & A.M.

Bill is survived by his children, William (Kay) Owens, Jr. of Arcadelphia, Ark., Charlotte (Bobby) Neal of Arcadelphia, Ark., Verda Wilbon of Buffalo, NY; 8 grandchildren; 8 great grandchildren; sister, Ida Mae Smith of Camden, Ark.; special friends, Louise Oswalt, Joyce Ripp and family, and Pam (Paul) Weaver; and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Services will be held at 11 a.m., Saturday, June 15, 2013 at the Oliver-Floyd Funeral Home, 1000 N. Broadway, Greenville, OH. with Bob Armstrong officiating.Burial will follow in the Greenville Township Memorial Gardens.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home Saturday from 10 a.m. till 11 a.m. The family requests that memorial contributions be given to the Shriner's Children's Hospitals.

Sue Ann Foureman, age 76 of Greenville, Ohio passed away at 11:36 P.M. Thursday June 13, 2013 at her residence. She was born April 29, 1937 in Darke County, Ohio and the daughter of the late J.E. and Orpha (Price) Sayers.

Sue, with her husband Gary, own and operated Foureman’s Sand and Gravel Company. Sue retired in 1998, as the secretary and bookkeeper for the company.

She was a longtime member of the Coletown Congregational Christian Church where she had served on many committees, but was currently attending the Stelvideo Christian Church. Sue was a 1955 graduate of Greenville High School. She loved bird watching on their family farm and animals of all kinds, raising many from birth so they would survive. Sue had a passion for her family and special friends and she opened their home many times to house and aid foster children. She served on the MMRD Board locally. Sue and Gary were snowbirds traveling to Florida for the winter months where they met many special friends.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her sister Wilma Jean Hoffman.

Sue is survived by her husband Gary Foureman of Greenville. They were married January 28, 1956. Also daughters Linda (David) Dickinson of Mechanicsburg and Connie Stollar of Greenville. Sons John (Melissa) Foureman of Greenville and Paul (Maria) Foureman of Cleveland. Grandchildren Daniel (Jessica) Foureman, Katie (James) Light, Jennifer (Rob) Collins, Kendra Stollar, Rachel (Matt) Sullivan and Kacey Stollar; great grandchildren Larissa Foureman, Alexandria Foureman, Lydia Light and numerous nieces and nephews.

Funeral Services will be held at 10:30 A.M. Wednesday June 19, 2013 in the Zechar Bailey Funeral Home Greenville, Ohio with Pastor Alan Arment officiating. Burial will follow in the Greenville Cemetery. The family will receive friends on Tuesday from 5:00 P.M. until 8:00 P.M. and on Wednesday 1 hour prior to the funeral service in the funeral home.

It is the wishes of the family that Memorial Contributions be given to the Heart Institute of Dayton, Ohio.

Gene Miller McMahan, age 84 of Greenville, Ohio passed away at 7:15 P.M. Thursday June 13, 2013 at Heartland Nursing Home of Greenville, Ohio. He was born November 29, 1928 in Connersville, Indiana and the son of the late Neil and Augusta (Miller) McMahan.

Gene retired in 1991 from Mikesell Potato Chip Company of Dayton where he had been employed for 25 years.

He was a veteran of the Korean War serving in the U.S. Navy. Gene was a Life Member of the Greenville V.F.W., Greenville American Legion where he had served as Commander and had been very active with the Greenville Veteran’s Honor Guard. He was a graduate of the McGuffey High School Oxford, Ohio, a lifelong Cleveland Browns fan, avid euchre player and a loving father, husband and grandfather.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister in law Shirley McMahan and his aunt Dorothy Bohachek.

Gene is survived by his wife Elaine (Kimball) McMahan of Greenville. They were married February 25, 1950. Also daughters Gena (Bill) Fulmer of Mason, Ohio and Liz (John) Meyer of Fairfield, Ohio. His son Jeffrey McMahan of Los Angeles, CA. Grandchildren Alexa Fulmer, Cassie (David) Brown, Kelsey Meyer and Logan Meyer. Great grandson Spencer Brown. Brother Gerald McMahan of Hamilton and numerous Nieces and Nephews.

Funeral Services will be held at 3:00 P.M. Friday June 21, 2013 in the Zechar Bailey Funeral Home Greenville, Ohio with Pastor Joe Payne officiating. The family will receive friends on Friday from 1:00 P.M. until time of services in the funeral home.

The Greenville Veteran’s Honor Guard will conduct Full Military Honors at the funeral home.
