Dale M. Marker (January 29, 2018)

Dale M. Marker, age 93, of Greenville, Ohio, passed away on Monday, January 29, 2018 at 10:02 AM at his residence. He was born on October 17, 1924 in Franklin Township, Ohio, to the late Mart & Clina (Jones) Marker.

Dale is survived by his son and daughter in law, Stephen & Barbara Marker of Greenville; daughters and son in law, Carol Griffith of Greenville and Linda & Kirk Morrison of Tipp City; grandchildren, Matthew (Karmen) Marker, Ryan (Lori) Marker, Jessica (Eric) Osswald, Kevin Griffith, Brian (Jessica) Griffith, Jennifer Allen, Stephanie (Andy) Tarter, Aaron (Stephanie) Morrison and Megan Roberts; great grandchildren Devin, Laren, Ashley, Kaitlyn, Alec, Jacob, Trevor, Bella, Mason and Jori; twin sister, Doris Neff of Palestine; sister in law, Patty Sackett of Greenville; brother in law, Bill Sackett of Greenville; as well as numerous nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents he is preceded in death by his loving and devoted wife of 65 years, Mary Lou (Sackett) Marker.

Dale is a member and past commander of the Veterans of Foreign Wars, American Legion and served on the Greenville Veterans Honor Guard. He was a well known Franklin Township farmer, a member of St. John Lutheran Church, a retired Franklin Monroe school bus driver, and a retired Franklin Township Trustee. He was a life member of the Disabled American Veterans and the Veterans of Foreign Wars. Dale was a member of the United States Army serving in World War II where he was honorably discharged on November 11, 1945 as a Private First Class. He enlisted on March 6, 1943 as a light machine gunner in Company L of the 15th Infantry Regiment of the 3rd Division where he fought four campaigns. He was wounded on the Anzio Beachland in Italy and received a second wound near Epinal, France. Dale received many awards during his service to our country including the Combat Infantry Badge, Silver Star Medal for gallantry in action, Bronze Star Medal for meritorious service in ground combat, Purple Heart Medal with one bronze cluster, Good Conduct Medal, Middle Eastern Campaign Medal with four campaign Bronze Service Stars and Bronze Arrowhead for invasion, Army of Occupation Medal with Germany clasp, French Fourragere, Presidential Unit Citation and World War II Victory Medal. Dale was inducted into the Ohio Military Hall of Fame for Valor on May 3, 2013.

There will be a service held on Saturday, February 3, 2018 at 11:00 AM at Zechar Bailey Funeral Home, Greenville, Ohio, with Rev. Dr. Fred Bernhard officiating. Burial will follow in the Newcomer’s Cemetery, Darke County, Ohio. Family will receive friends on Friday, February 2, 2018 from 5-8 PM at the funeral home. A full military service will be conducted by the Greenville Veterans Honor Guard on Saturday at the funeral home.

Connie May (Hale) Yoder (January 29, 2018)

Connie May (Hale) Yoder, 71, of Greenville, passed away on January 29, 2018 at her residence.

Connie was born on November 4, 1946 in Greenville, the daughter of the late Junior and Alice Hale.

In addition to her parents, Connie was preceded in death by her husband, Frank Yoder, whom she married December 26, 1964; her daughter, Kim Widener; and two sisters.

Connie was always a tomboy and as she got older, her love of motors and machines took over. In her youth, Connie was known to participate in illegal drag races down State highway 571. She enjoyed motorcycle rides with Frank and truly missed them after he passed. She also loved drag racing and cars. Connie was a great cook and loved to prepare a meal for her guests. She was a kind woman and took in every kid as her own. She will especially be missed by her bed buddy, Angus the cat.

Connie is survived by her children, Scott and Amanda Yoder, of Greenville, Kelly and David Eikenberry of Greenville, and Tracy and James Redman of Phillipsburg; Her grandson, Scotty and Rachel Yoder of Greenville; and her brother, Steve Hale of Greenville. She is also survived by numerous other grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

Private services will be held at the convenience of the family. Funeral services have been entrusted to Tribute Funeral Homes, Greenville campus.

Fletcher, Herman A. Jr. (Teddy) - 3/21/1943 to 1/22/2018

Our loved one has crossed into the loving Father’s arms after a lengthy battle with cancer. He leaves to mourn his passing his loving wife Valerie; children, Brian Nichols, Holly Roschel (Stephen), Jeremy, Brandi Reed; 6 grandchildren; and loving brothers Richard (Eve) and David.

He was predeceased by parents Herman A Fletcher Sr. and Francis J (Brinley), brother William (Carolyn, surviving), half-brothers Ralph Mikesell and Bill Petry and infant daughter Nancy. He also leaves behind his dogs Barney, Lucy and cats Frannie and Janie.

A memorial service will be held February 10, 2018 at 11 AM at Zechar Bailey Funeral Home, 1499 N Broadway, Greenville OH 45331. The family will receive friends from 10 am to 11 am with the service to follow. Interment will be held at Greenville Township Memorial Gardens, Greenville OH.

Jack L. Riegle, 81, of Greenville, passed away on February 2, 2018 at State of the Heart Care Center in Greenville.

Jack was born on October 22, 1936 in Greenville, the son of the late John C. and Eleanor (Baughman) Riegle.

Jack served his country honorably in the United States National Guard and was a member of Ansonia United Methodist Church. Jack enjoyed spending time with his devoted wife and family. He had a love for working outdoors going back to his days on his family's poultry farm, John C. Riegle & Sons in Ansonia. Jack was a long-time Darke County farmer, a self-employed truck driver and, later in life, worked and retired from the Ansonia Lumber Company.

Jack is survived by his wife of 62 years, Patty (Skillman) Riegle, whom he married January 15, 1956; his daughters and sons-in-law, Jill (Bob) Gelhaus, Jan (Tim) Turner, both of Ansonia, and Janese Spencer of Greenville; his grandchildren, Jennifer (Josh) Pierre, Brandon (Amber) Gelhaus, Brian (Emily Work) Gelhaus, Audrey (Adam) Kaiser, Aaron (Nichole Dugan) Turner, Alec (Brittany Broering) Turner, Wes (Caitlin) Spencer, Austin (Emily) Spencer; great grandchildren, Ellie, Emily and Jake Pierre, Addison, Tate and Isaac Gelhaus, Evan, Lillian, Landyn, Owen and Grayson Kaiser, Elyse, Ayden, Brooklynn and Vincent Turner, Warner and Rhea Spencer, and Blake Spencer; his brother, Gene Riegle of Ansonia; and numerous nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, Jack was preceded in death by his son-in-law, Jeff Spencer and his sister-in-law, Candy Riegle.

A Celebration of Life service will be held at 10:30 AM on Thursday, February 8, 2018, at Tribute Funeral Homes, Greenville Campus, with Pastor Roger Emerson officiating. Burial will follow in Greenville Cemetery.

Family and friends may visit on Wednesday, from 3 PM to 7 PM at the funeral home.

Geraldine Overholser-Jobes (February 2, 2018)

Geraldine Overholser-Jobes, 105, of Greenville, went home to be with the Lord on February 2, 2018 at Koester Pavilion in Troy, Ohio.

Geraldine was born on February 8, 1912 in Darke County, Ohio, the daughter of the late Edward and Josie (Shook) Schultz.

In addition to her parents, Geraldine was preceded in death by her first husband, Samuel J. Overholser in 1968; her second husband, Lowell E. Jobes in 2011; her brother, Leonard Schultz Sr.; and her sister, Helen Rank.

Geraldine was a member of E.U.M. Church in Greenville. She was an amazing cook, known for her home made noodles. She enjoyed quilting, reading, gardening and spending time with her family.

Geraldine is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Sally (Thomas) Howe of Troy, Ohio; her granddaughters, Diana (Jimmy) Morlan of Troy, Ohio and Holly (Tavo) Flores of Troy, Ohio; her great grandchildren, Gracie Morlan, Andrew Morlan, Alexander Flores, and Cassandra Flores; her sister, Maxine Edwards of Dallas, Texas (formerly of Greenville); several nieces and nephews; her step-daughter, Caroline Jobes of Greenville; and several step-grandchildren.

A Celebration of Life service will be held at 1 PM on Tuesday, February 6, 2018, at Tribute Funeral Homes in Greenville. Burial will follow in Ansonia Cemetery.

Byron E. Fowble, 94 of Greenville, Ohio passed away on Saturday February 3, 2018 at 4:34 PM at Heartland of Greenville. He was born March 23, 1923 in Preble County, Ohio the son of the late Raymond & Mabel (Kenworthy) Fowble. He served his nation in the United States Army in World War II where he received the Purple Heart.

He is preceded in death by his parent and daughter: Carolyn Sue Bolin.

He is survived by his wife: Dortha Mae (Baker) Fowble of Greenville whim he married July 10, 1957; his children & spouses: Kenneth & Ann Fowble of Auburn, Indiana, Russell & Nancy Reier of Hamilton, Ohio, Tonya & Alex Mangen of Greenville, Starla Bowers of Union City, Indiana, Harold Reier of Greenville; grandchildren: Ashlie & Lance Anthony, Andrea Gabbard, Brandon Bowers, Candice Bowers, Gary Bowers, Makenzie Shafer, Mark, Brian, & Joy Reier, Camma, Gina, Julia, & Amanda Fowble; numerous great grandchildren; sisters: Bonnie Cole, & Violet Teehart; numerous nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held on Tuesday February 6, 2018 at 1:00 PM at Zechar Bailey Funeral Home, Greenville, Ohio. Burial will follow in Greenville Township Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends from 10:00 AM until 1:00 PM on Tuesday at the funeral home. Military Honors will be conducted by the Greenville Veterans Honor Guard on Tuesday at the funeral home. Herbert Francis Byers, 96 of Greenville, Ohio went to be with the Lord on Sunday February 4, 2018.
Francis was preceded in death by his wife: Mary (Ulsh) Byers; his parents: Ralph and Mary (Myers) Byers; his sister and brother in law: Velma (Byers) and Gerald Heck.

He is survived by his children: Donna (Byers) Christian of Arcanum, Ohio, and Merrill Byers of Greenville, Ohio; his grandchildren: Tracy Christian of Lancaster, Ohio, Kelly (Christian) and Rick Hardin of Miamisburg, Ohio, Brian and Angie Byers of Greenville, Ohio, Jason and Jennifer Byers of Greenville, Ohio, Tim and Jamie Christian of Dayton, Ohio, and Meredith (Byers) and Jordan Fader; his great grandchildren: Heather Harff of Nicolasville, Kentucky, Chelsie Harff of Lancaster, Ohio, Morgan Byers of Greenville, Ohio, Bryant Byers of Greenville, Ohio, Madison Byers of Greenville, Ohio, Jayce Byers of Greenville, Ohio, Braylin Burchfield of Greenville, Ohio, Jenna Christian of Dayton, Ohio, Taylor Christian of Dayton, Ohio, and Mason Fader of Greenville, Ohio; his great great grandson: Jackson Walker Seymour of Lancaster, Ohio. He leaves behind many nieces and nephews.

Francis was a lifelong resident of Darke County, Ohio. He was a farmer by trade.

In 1939 he started competing in the agriculture; horticulture section of the Great Darke County Fair. He was awarded many 1st place ribbons and rosettes for his vegetables, fruit, and grain entries. He was chosen twice to be Grand Marshall of the fair. In 2017 he reached a remarkable goal of 77 consecutive years of competition. An accomplishment his family was proud of. Francis also competed at the Ohio State Fair for 40 consecutive years from 1974 to 1993. There were awards for Best Display of Vegetables, Best Fruit Sweepstakes, and Best Display of Fruit awarded yearly. In 1993 he won all eight banners given.

In 1994 he was inducted into the Ohio State Agriculture Hall of Fame by Governor George Voinivich. He also received a Directors Award for Innovation and Excellence.

In 1994, along with Mr. Terry Sipple he started the Downtown Greenville Farmers market. At 90 they honored him with a Certificate of Recognition for Dedicated Service as a vendor at the Downtown Greenville Farmers Market.

In 2015 he was recognized for his dedication to agriculture by receiving the following awards: Outstanding Fair Supporter from the Department of Agriculture, Agriculture Achievement Award from Darke County, and Outstanding Achievement Recognition from both the 131st General Assembly of the House of Representatives. He was a member of Oakland Church of the Brethren.

Funeral services will be held on Friday February 9, 2018 at 10:00 AM at Zechar Bailey Funeral Home, Greenville, Ohio with Rev. Dr. Fred Bernhard officiating and will continue to Abbottsville Cemetery for his burial. The family will receive friends from 4:00 PM until 8:00 PM on Thursday February 8, 2018 at the funeral home. There will be a luncheon served at Oakland Church of the Brethren 8058 Horatio Harris Creek Road, Bradford, Ohio immediately following the funeral service. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to Oakland Church of the Brethren or State of the Heart Care.

Francis taught his family the value of hard work, dedication to the fields of agriculture; horticulture, and how to fish, something he enjoyed. He leaves behind a legacy that will live on in his children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren. His love for his craft was matched only by his love for his family. He will be missed by many.

Vickie L. Monnin age 65, of Versailles, Ohio passed away at 12:04 AM on Thursday, February 1, 2018, in the ER at Wayne HealthCare in Greenville.

Vickie was born March 11, 1952, in Piqua to the late John & Kathryn (Black) Dross. In addition to her parents, Vickie is also preceded in death by a son, Lawrence J. Monnin; and granddaughter, Lorenn Monnin.

Vickie is survived by a son, Jamey Monnin of Palestine; grandchildren, Joe & Kelsey Monnin, April Monnin and Corey Monnin; one expected great grandchild soon; sister & brother-in-law, Diane & Dennis Grillot of Versailles; brothers & sisters-in-law, John & Mary Dross of Bradford, Alva Dross of Versailles and Jeff & Jackie Dross of Covington; and numerous nieces and nephews.

A memorial service will be held at 3:00 PM on Wednesday, February 7, 2018, at Bailey Zechar Funeral Home in Versailles with Deacon Randy Balster officiating. Dr. Alan D. Shafer age 93, of Dayton passed away at 10:15 AM on Sunday, February 4, 2018, at Brookdale at Oakwood.

Dr. Shafer was born January 18, 1925, in Ansonia, Ohio to the late Ernest & Thelma (Beam) Shafer. In addition to his parents, Dr. Shafer was also preceded in death by a grandson, Daniel Ernest Shafer; brothers, Paul, Ivan, Harry and David Ernest Shafer in infancy.

Dr. Shafer is survived by his wife of 68 years, Martha J. (Kalter) Shafer whom he married December 26, 1949; children, Gayle & Lew Prine of Springfield, Alan D. Shafer Jr. of St. Paris, Peter & Kathy Shafer of Kettering and Tim & Lisa Shafer of Oakwood; grandchildren, Becky & Alex Sennet, Luke Shafer, Logan Shafer and Nick Shafer; great-grandchild, Dawson Sennet; step grandchildren and step great-grandchildren; sister & brother-in-law, Patricia & Jacques O’Hara of Peebles; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Dr. Shafer served in the U.S. Navy and Air Force during WWII. Dr. Shafer practiced Pediatric Surgery from 1957 to 1991 in the Dayton Area. He was instrumental in the establishment of The Dayton Children’s Medical Center. He served there at different times as Director of Surgery, Chief of Staff and the surgical suite is named in his honor. Dayton Children’s established an award which was renamed in 2013, the Alan D. Shafer M.D. Distinguished Service Award, to honor his significant support and contributions. Dr. Shafer was an avid member of the Christian Medical Society. He enjoyed living on the farm, music, fishing and staying at his cabin in Minnesota.

The family will receive friends from 9:00 to 10:00 AM on Saturday, February 10, 2018, at Bailey Zechar Funeral Home in Versailles. A graveside service will be held at 10:30 AM on Saturday at Greenlawn Cemetery in Versailles. A memorial service will be held at 2:00 PM on Saturday, February 10, 2018, at Fairhaven Church 637 East Whipp Rd. Centerville, OH followed by a gathering of family and friends. Joyce Ann Kiser (February 4, 2018)

Joyce Ann Kiser, 83, of Greenville, passed away Sunday, February 4, 2018 at her home.

She was born, December 15, 1934 in Troy, Ohio, the daughter of the late Leonard and Gladys (Brown) Stoltz.

In addition to her parents, Joyce was preceded in death by her husband, John E. Kiser, Sr., whom she married May 18, 1953; her son, Gary Kiser; and her brother, Jack L. Stoltz.

Joyce enjoyed crocheting and cross-stitching. Her love of people and caring for others shown through her 43-year career as a nurse’s aide at Wayne Health Care. After retiring, Joyce continued her service by volunteering at the hospital.

Joyce is survived by her children and their spouses, John and Amy Kiser, Steven and Jerilyn Kiser, and Donna and Ronald Weyant, all of Greenville; 9 grandchildren; 16 great grandchildren; her sister, Audrey Stoltz of Celina; and numerous nieces and nephews.

A Celebration of Life service will be held at 10:30AM on Saturday, February 10, 2018 at Tribute Funeral Homes, Greenville campus, with Chaplain Bill Phips officiating. Burial will follow in Abbottsville Cemetery.

Family and friends may visit on Friday from 5:00PM to 7:00PM at the funeral home.

Donald “Duane” Gilbert (February 4, 2018)

Donald “Duane” Gilbert age 85, of Greenville passed away at 6:05 PM on Sunday, February 4, 2018, at the Brethren Retirement Community in Greenville.

Duane was born June 18, 1932, in Darke County to the late Alvin & Myrtle “Marie” (Bailey) Gilbert. In addition to his parents, Duane was also preceded in death by his brothers, Jim & Gene Gilbert; and a sister, Marlene Gilbert.

Duane is survived by his wife of 40 years, Alma Lea (Rhoades) Gilbert whom he married February 7, 1970; children, Vicky Gilbert Hamilton of Lebanon, Bonita Kim & Ward Chapin of Vancouver, British Columbia and Tim Gilbert of Greenville; step children, Angela & Ron Dapore of Vandalia, Kathy & Al Wilkins of Marathon, Florida, Anne & Doug Fike of Cincinnati and Max & Candy Sharp of Vandalia; grandchildren, Andrew Hamilton, Caroline Hamilton and Alexandra Hamilton; and numerous step grandchildren and step great grandchildren.

Duane served in the 11th Airborne Signal Company, during the Korean War. Duane completed 19 jumps at this time. He was Sergeant in the Telephone and Teletype division. He inspected up to Division with the Inspector General’s office. Duane managed and owned Commercial and Industrial Construction Companies in 3 states for 20 years. He was plant manager for 20 years of glass tempering plants in Ohio, Texas and California. He helped develop and build the first continuous tempering furnace being used today in the United States. Duane spent 5 years of management consulting with companies in Dayton. Duane also did remodeling and repair work for individuals and companies and farmed in Darke County for 10 years.

A funeral service will be held at 2:00 PM on Saturday, February 10, 2018, at Zechar Bailey Funeral Home in Greenville with Pastor Chris Cobb officiating. Burial will follow in West Branch Cemetery in Darke County. The family will receive friends on Friday from 5:00 to 7:00 PM at the funeral home. Marcia K. Field, age 67 of Ansonia, Ohio passed away at 4:55 AM Tuesday February 6, 2018 at the State of the Heart Hospice Care Center in Greenville. Marcia was born October 13, 1950 in Union City, Indiana and the Daughter of the late LeeRoy Archey and JoRetta (Grile) Archey-Wilkinson.

Marcia retired in 2015 from GTI of Greenville where she had been employed for 18 years.

She enjoyed spending time with her family and grandchildren and doing yard work.

In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her Step-Father James D. Wilkinson; sons Marcus Allen Archey and Adam Lynn Archey; 1 niece and 1 nephew.

Marcia is survived by her husband David Field of Ansonia. They were married September 10, 1988. Also her children Jason Archey and fiancé Kim Grilliot of Union City, Indiana, Lisa Archey of New Weston and Tina Archey of Columbus, Ohio; grandchildren Brandon (Claire) Archey, Chandler Archey, Chloe Archey, Devon Archey and Sophia Archey; great grandson Jack Archey; brothers James (Roberta) Archey of Bradford, Bill Archey of Greenville, John (Linda) Archey of Gettysburg, Larkin Archey of Greenville and Douglas (Kimberly) Archey of Union City, Ohio; sister Sharon Bevins and Fred Smith of Portland, Indiana as well as numerous nieces and nephews.

Funeral Services will be held at 1:00 PM Monday February 12, 2018 in the Zechar Bailey Funeral Home Greenville, Ohio with Pastor Richard Collins officiating. Burial will follow in the Greenville Cemetery. The family will receive friends on Sunday from 2:00 PM until 5:00 PM in the funeral home.

Daniel S. Berger, M.D. (February 6, 2018)

Daniel S. Berger, M.D., age 66, passed into the presence of his Savior on February 6, 2018 after a lengthy battle with cancer. Dan graduated from Alter High School in 1970, the University of Kentucky in 1975, and the University Of Cincinnati College Of Medicine in 1979. Dan practiced medicine in Greenville from 1982 until his retirement in 2011. Dan loved being a doctor and he loved his many patients. In 2010, He was named the Doctor of the Year by Wayne Healthcare in Greenville, the Family Physician of the Year by the Miami Valley Academy of Family Physicians, and in 2011 he was inducted into the Alter High School Distinguished Hall of Fame. Along with his love of being a doctor, he was also an avid gardener and wood cutter.

Dan was preceded in death by his first wife Ellen (Wiedemann) and their infant son Danny following a car accident in 1980. He is also preceded in death by his parents Emery and Rose Berger. He is survived by his wife Jeni (Young) whom he married on April 16, 1983, his daughters Sally (Joe) Ness of Oak Park, IL and Emily (Aaron) Shade of Monroe, OH, his 2 beloved grandsons Oliver and Theo Ness, his 3 brothers Dr. Omer (Cecile) Berger of Cincinnati, Dr. Tom (Mona) Berger of Cincinnati, and Mr. Gary Berger of Bellbrook, his in-laws Judge William and Barbara Young of Greenville, as well as many nieces and nephews.

A Celebration of Life service will take place on Saturday February 10 at 9:00 AM at Castine Church of the Brethren Life Center, 624 U.S. Rt. 127 South, Arcanum, Ohio with Pastor Gary Cloyd officiating. Burial will follow in the Greenville Cemetery.

Willie “WT” Lewis, 75, of Union City, Ohio, passed away early Wednesday morning, February 7, 2018 at Reid Health Care in Richmond, Indiana.

WT was born on May 23, 1942 in Bloomfield, Kentucky, the son of the late Willie and Arabell (Keeling) Lewis.

In addition to his parents, WT was preceded in death by a son, Jim Lewis; his daughter, Lori Jenkinson; his sisters, Grace Jewell, and Pauline Powell; and his brother, Donnie Lewis.

WT had a love of travel and enjoyed riding his motorcycle with Phyllis and seeing the country. He looked forward to going to Florida for the winter. One of WT’s most favorite things was his time spent drinking coffee at McDonalds with his “buddies”. He would meet them every morning and evening to socialize. He and Phyllis attended the First Assembly of God Church in Greenville and the Calvary Assembly of God Church when in Florida. Every year He and Phyllis would park their camper at the Great Darke County Fair and spend the week enjoying the attractions and events. WT was a family man and loved nothing more then to spend time with his children and grandchildren. He leaves a whole that will never be filled and will be missed dearly.

WT is survived by his wife of 41 years, Phyllis (Meyer) Lewis, whom he married, August 28, 1976; his children and their spouses, Bill and Debbie Lewis of Union City, Indiana, Mike and Kasey Schmitz of Fort Recovery, Ohio, Deborah Lewis of Knoxville, Tennessee, Joyce and Jerry Hunt of Winchester, Indiana, Tina and Jose Cantu of Union City, Ohio, Nila and Richard Newton of Salamonia, Indiana, Marsha and Greg Elliott of Union City, Ohio, Anita and TJ Jutte of Fort Recovery, Ohio, Patty Hunt of Union City, Ohio, Teresa and Tony Homan of Coldwater, Ohio, and Denice and Kevin Bettinger of Coldwater, Ohio. He is also survived by 23 grandchildren; 17 great grandchildren; his siblings and their spouses, Christine and Herb Clark of Franklin, Ohio, Alice Wheeler of Franklin, Ohio, Effie Henson of Springboro, Ohio, Corfine and Sonny Price of Middletown, Ohio, Willie E. and Ethel Lewis of Carlisle, Ohio, Bobby and Louise Lewis of Franklin, Ohio, Theo Lewis of Middletown, Ohio, Gary and Ann Lewis of Middletown, Ohio, Ray and Gerri Lewis of Franklin, Ohio, and Jesse and Debbie Lewis of Germantown, Ohio; and he leaves behind countless nieces, nephews and friends.

A Celebration of Life service will be held at 11 AM on Tuesday, February 13, 2018 at Tribute Funeral Homes in Greenville with Pastor Dale Boeger officiating. Burial will follow in Snell Cemetery.

Family and friends my visit on Monday, from 4 Pm to 7 PM at the funeral home, and again on Tuesday from 10 AM until the time of the service at 11 AM, at the funeral home.

Clara L. Miller, 94, of Canal Fulton, Ohio and formerly of Greenville, passed away early Sunday morning, February 4, 2018 at her home.

She was born on December 21, 1923 in South Bend, Indiana, the daughter of the late Walter and Anna (Follendorf) Richardson.

In addition to her parents, Clara was preceded in death by her first husband, John Dunlap on June 20, 1970; her second husband, Clyde Miller on February 13, 2005; her son, Dan “D.W.” Dunlap; her sisters, Amelia Swain and Margaret Devor; and her brother, Walter Richardson.

Clara was a hard worker and made sure to be a role model for her children. She retired from United Telephone after over 30 years of service. She began as a telephone operator and moved her way up to be a supervisor. She was a member of the Grace Lutheran Church in Greenville. Clara enjoyed socializing and playing cards with her sisters and friends. Before she moved out of the area, Clara was a member of and would frequent the Greenville VFW, American Legion and Eagles Lodge. As she got older, and a bit slower, she would pass the time by watching TV and spending time with her grandchildren.

Clara is survived by her children, Cathy Miller of Canal Fulton, Ohio, and Leo (Diane) Dunlap of Greenville; her grandchildren, Chad (Jeanette Noggle) Orth, Shawn (Kristy) Orth, Bobbie Jo (Tom) Stephenson, Justice Miller, Lori (Rob) Godown, John Dunlap, Danielle (Randy) Luthman, Jill Urban, Christina Dunlap, and Samantha Dunlap; 21 great grandchildren; her brother Ron Richardson, and countless nieces, nephews and friends.

A Celebration of Life service will be held at 12:00 PM on Monday, February 12, 2018 at Tribute Funeral Homes, Greenville campus. Burial will follow in Greenville Township Memorial Gardens.

Alice (McKibben) Frantom, 86, of Cape Coral, FL, and formally of Greenville passed away Thursday, February 1, 2018 at Health Park Medical Center Ft. Myers Florida.

She was born outside of Greenville, Ohio a part of Darke County. She was born on May 8, 1931, a daughter to Don Herald McKibben and Igerna Eva Supinger McKibben. Her husband, Wilbur (Bud) Harrison Frantom predeceased her after 43 years of happiness. Both she and Bud taught many years in Darke County.

Alice was a student at Ansonia Schools and graduated from Ansonia High School in 1949. She went on to receive a B.S. Degree from Miami University at Oxford, Ohio, graduating Cum Laude in 1953. Later in 1961 she also earned a Master’s Degree in Education with emphasis on Guidance and Counseling. She later was elected to Delta Kappa Gamma, an international honorary educational society. During her teaching career she was also honored to be listed in Who's Who Among Secondary Teaches in the United States.

She served for two years as Secretary-Treasurer of the Home Economics Division of the Ohio Vocation Association. A few years later she served a year as President of that same organization.

During her retirement years she volunteered 25 years at the Cape Coral Hospital accumulating 10,000 hours for that organization, a group of approximately six hundred members. She served several years as an officer, including President, for that group. Additionally she spent several years as Chairman of their Scholarship Committee. She continues to be part of their Past Presidents' Committee.

She has served on various committees during her years at Cypress Cove with her favorite being the Hospitality. Additionally she belonged to the Cypress Cove Chapel, a nondenominational religious organization.

Alice was retired from the Franklin Monroe Schools where she had taught for 25 years. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Greenville and the Cape Coral Hospital Auxiliary.

Celebration of Life service will be held at 2 PM Saturday, February 10, 2018 at Tribute Funeral Homes, Greenville campus. Burial will follow in Teegarden Cemetery.

Family and friends may visit on Saturday from 1 PM to 2 PM at the funeral home.

Shirley A. Robertson, age 79, of Greenville, Ohio, passed away unexpectedly on Wednesday, February 7, 2018 at 11:35 PM at Wayne HealthCare, Greenville, Ohio. She was born on October 26, 1938 in Greenville, Ohio, to the late Leon & Carrie (McEldowney) Cole.

Shirley is survived by her husband of 60 years Robert Robertson of Greenville, Ohio, whom she married on December 26, 1957; daughter and son in law, Sherry & Brian Burk of Ansonia; son, Barry Robertson of Greenville; granddaughter, Nycole (Avery) Spencer; sister, Jean Marker of Greenville; as well as numerous nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents she is preceded in death by her sister in law, Georgia Wills and brother in law, Jack Marker.

Shirley retired from Krogers in Greenville and was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church.

There will be a service held on Tuesday, February 13, 2018 at 2:00 PM at Zechar Bailey Funeral Home, Greenville, Ohio, with Rev. Fr. John White officiating. Burial will follow in the Greenville Township Memorial Gardens, Greenville, Ohio. Family will receive friends on Monday, February 12, 2018 from 5-7 PM at the funeral Home.

Arthur W. Curtis age 92, of Versailles passed away at 4:45 AM on Sunday, February 11, 2018, at Versailles Health Care Center.

Arthur was born November 2, 1925, in Darke County to the late Glen & Eva Elizabeth Curtis. In addition to his parents, Arthur was also preceded in death by a son, Richard Curtis; son-in-law, Ken Draving; brothers, Charles, Robert and Herbert Gene Curtis; and sisters, Treva Klipstine, Opal Koon and Shirley Curtis.

Arthur is survived by his wife, Evelyn (Zacharias) Curtis whom he married March 25, 1950; children, Dan & Linda Curtis of Greenville, Linda Draving of Sidney and Gary & Susan Curtis of Greenville; daughter-in-law, Sue Curtis of Greenville; 7 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren; brother & sister-in-law, Roger & Pat Curtis; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Arthur served in the U.S. Army during WWII. He was a farmer, retiree from George H. Worch Lumber Company and a former employee of Yieldmor Feeds. Arthur was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Versailles.

A funeral service will be held at 10:30 AM on Wednesday, February 14, 2018, at Bailey Zechar Funeral Home in Versailles. Burial will follow in Greenlawn Cemetery in Versailles with full military honors conducted by the Versailles Veteran’s Honor Guard. Frances “Pauline” Brown, 97, of Rockford, Ohio, passed away on February 10, 2018 at Maplewood of Shane Hill Nursing Home in Rockford.

She was born on January 25, 1921 in Georgia, the daughter of the late John Osborn and Alma Terue Daniel.

In addition to her parents, Francis was preceded in death by her husband, Ronald L Brown, on May 21, 2006, whom she married on February 5, 1944; her brothers, Oscar Daniel and Raymond Daniel; her sisters, Ruby Milton and Martha VanHook.

Francis is survived by two daughters and their spouses, Darla and Chris Bennett of Martinsville, Virginia, and Sharon and Jack Henkaline of Van Wert, Ohio; four grandchildren, Christy (Daren) Hall, Ronnie (Angie) Bennett, Teresa (Alan) Prillaman, and Chris (Laura) Henkaline; 16 great grandchildren; and two great-great grandchildren. She is also survived by her brothers James (Carolyn) Daniel, John (Barbara Ann) Danie; and two sisters, Lenora (Denver) Harter and Georgia (Bill) Grumbles.

Frances was a graduate of Pelzer High School, Pelzer, Georgia. She loved teaching Sunday school class at the Church of the Brethren and United Methodist Church in Rossburg, Ohio. In her later years, she attended both Calvary Evangelical Church and Life House Church before retiring to Assisted Living in Rockford. She also was a 4-H leader in Darke County for many years. She loved sewing, gardening, her family, her grandchildren, great grandchildren, and great-great grandchildren.

A Celebration of Life service will be held at 11AM on Wednesday, February 14, 2018 at the Tribute Funeral Homes, Greenville campus with Pastors Chris Bennett and Chris Henkaline officiating. Burial will follow in Greenville Township Memorial Gardens.

Family and friends may visit Wednesday from 10AM until the time of the service at 11AM at the funeral home.

In Lieu of flowers the family suggests donations be made to the Van Wert County Visiting Nurses Association, 1159 Westwood Drive, Van Wert; OH; 45891.

Vickie C. Young, 74 of Palestine, Ohio passed away on Monday February 12, 2018 at 4:37 AM at Miami Valley Hospital. She was born March 24, 1943 in Greenville, Ohio the daughter of the late Charles L. & Evelyn T. (Meier) Drew. She was a homemaker and a babysitter for many years.

She attended Faith Baptist Church and loved her dog Bitty; and loved John Wayne Movies.

She is preceded in death by her parents; her sisters: Barbara & Carol Drew; brother: Larry Drew.

She is survived by her husband of 55 ½ years Jack Young of Palestine; her children & spouses: Randy & Carla Young of Palestine, Roberta & Ed Smith of New Madison, Robin & Brian Mogle of New Paris; 7 grandchildren; 2 great grandchildren; sisters: Linda Emerick of Greenville, & Deanna Henninger of Greenville; numerous nieces & nephews.

Services will be held on Friday February 16, 2018 at 2:00 PM at Zechar Bailey Funeral Home, Greenville, Ohio with Pastor Bill Baker officiating. Burial will follow in Palestine Cemetery. Family will receive friends from 12:00 PM until 2:00 PM on Friday at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the American Heart Association.
